So, you’ve seen those wooden carpenter’s rulers that fold up? You know those turn into stars you can use to decorate for Christmas, right? I’m pretty sure that’s what their intended use is.
They’re cheap to buy and easy to shape. They come in white, yellow or natural wood colors.
You can hang them on your walls. On your door. On your tree. In your window. (Are you getting the idea here?)
You could cover an entire room with as many of these as you need. You could use only one to greet visitors to your home by placing it in an entry way. These are an inexpensive and fun way to brighten up your home for the holidays.
The rulers are easy to find online or in any small independent hardware store and cost anywhere from $3 – $20 a piece. I bought the ones seen here for $5 each at a local shop.
I hung mine in a wooden hutch I have built in to my dining room wall. I tried them on the front door and on the tree, but I really wanted them to float for a greater effect. I easily tied on some different lengths of fishing line to the peaks of the stars and attached the other end to a hook in the ceiling.
The process is completely effortless. The size of the project you take on will ultimately be the deciding factor in how long this will take to do. One star hanging on a nail somewhere will give you almost instantaneous results. Want to cover your ceiling? That might take a bit longer.
If you come up with any other great ways to display these rulers, send them my way and I’ll feature them here!
You’re so darn creative. You should have a Christmas Party to show these off 🙂 Ahem.
Nice Idea Very Creative 🙂
Thanks!
Aw, this was a very nice post. Taking a few minutes and actual effort to make a superb article… but what can I say… I put things off a lot and
don’t manage to get anything done.
